COVID-19

More than 2.5 million people worldwide have died of COVID-19 – with over 538,000 of those deaths occurring in the United States.

Working with Indiana University's Crisis Innovation Technology Lab, Disaster Tech created a public dashboard containing COVID-19 data. This data came from a variety of sources, including John Hopkins University. We selected these data sets because it aligned with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s community lifelines, including health and medical, communications, transportation, safety and security, energy (power and fuel), hazardous materials, and food, water, and shelter.

Disaster Tech also integrated in-hospital data, including the availability of ICU beds. This type of information provided emergency managers and first responders with the best possible understanding of the on-the-ground situation. Additionally, IU and Disaster Tech brought in cleaned, realtime Twitter data to utilize citizen reporting for full situational awareness.
